Focus on...Los Angeles

Los Angeles is the second largest city in the United States, and boasts one of the largest metro populations in the world. Formally part of Mexico, in 1848 Los Angeles was purchased as part of the Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo, becoming part of the United States.

Although Los Angeles started out as a small village, the discovery of oil, coupled with the completion of a transcontinental railroad, helped the population to boom in the late 19^th and early 20^th centuries. Los Angeles is now a sprawling metropolis, perfectly situated near the beautiful Pacific Ocean, and close to natural wonders like Joshua Tree National Park.

Commonly regarded as the most diverse of the nation’s largest cities, the City of Angels is a leading world center of business, international trade, entertainment and culture. Full of actors, writers, filmmakers, and musicians, Los Angeles is often called the “Creative Capital of the World. However, in addition to Hollywood and movie stars, Los Angeles is also home to a thriving trucking industry. The ports of Los Angeles and Long Beach combined make up the fifth busiest port in the world. With so many goods heading in and out of the city, it should come as no surprise that there is a large need for all types of truck drivers in and around the Los Angeles area.

Los Angeles boasts some of the best weather in the country, averaging 284 sunny days a year. There are many ways to take advantage of that sunshine—whether it’s relaxing on Venice Beach, or enjoying a sporting event of one of L.A.’s many great sports teams—in L.A. there is truly something for everyone. No matter what your walk of life is, there are few better places to call home than Los Angeles.
