Recently the Truckload Carriers Association and CarriersEdge proclaimed five truckload carriers in the US were ahead of the pack. These companies are noted as the Fleets to Watch for 2018. They include Bennett Motor Express, Hoekstra Transportation, Larway Transportation, Load One Transportation and Logistics, and Werner Enterprises. Take a look at each of these trucking companies to see what sets them apart from the competition.
Bennett Motor Express
Based in McDonough, Georgia, Bennett Motor Express is a part of Bennett International Group. Bennett Motor Express specializes in hauling oversized loads of flatbed freight. In fact, some of the biggest freight ever hauled in the US was transported via truck drivers at Bennett. The company is woman-led by CEO Marcia G. Taylor and has more than 3,000 employees nationwide. Awards for the company have come from the National Defense Transportation Association, American Trucking Associations, and the Specialized Carriers and Riggings Association.
As a regional trucking company based just outside of Chicago, Illinois, Hoekstra Transportation has been in the industry for more than 25 years. The company provides freight hauling within a 500-mile radius of Chicago, which is the leading metro hub for freight in the Midwest. Benefits for drivers at Hoekstra Transportation include 100 percent company paid vision and dental benefits, as well as 99 percent no-touch freight. The company pays its drivers 43 cents per mile along with practical mileage.
Since 1985, Larway Transportation has been providing LTL and truckload freight hauling services. The carrier hires experienced truck drivers who are CDL endorsed for hazardous materials. Based in Barrie, Ontario, the company focuses on US freight with facilities in New Jersey, Missouri, Texas, and New Mexico. Drivers interested in trucking jobs with Larway Transportation can choose between owner-operator positions or company driver jobs.
Load One Transportation and Logistics
Headquartered in Taylor, Michigan, Load One Transportation and Logistics is an award-winning carrier. In addition to the Truckload Carriers Association, Load One has been honored by the American Trucking Associations, US Transportation Security Administration, and Transportation Intermediaries Association. The company provides a variety of truck driving services including ground expedited, truckload, and specialized freight. Drivers are also hazmat approved and include both company drivers and owner-operators.
The Omaha, Nebraska trucking company Werner Enterprises has been providing truck driving jobs in the US since 1956. Today Werner is one of the biggest trucking companies on the planet as one of the top five largest truckload carriers. The company also provides regional freight, local trucking jobs, and final mile services. Other types of trucking jobs available at Werner Enterprises include intermodal trucking jobs, long-haul freight, refrigerated hauls, flatbed truckloads, and dry van freight.
Truck drivers who are just starting out can benefit from the carrier’s student driver program. Through this program, student drivers can attend trucking schools that are partnered with Werner.
